Paul Brown

Paul-Brown

Tax Partner & Director of Advisory

At a time where the government toughens its stance on tax avoidance and evasion, HMRC becomes more active across all aspects of business and personal tax and increasingly sophisticated in their use of data; every business needs a Paul.

Paul has brought a wealth of tax experience to the firm, having first trained as a tax inspector at HM Revenue & Customs before joining KPMG in Liverpool as a Tax Manager. He later worked at BASF as its UK Tax Manager, before spending six years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Manchester and Australia and a further eight years as an Executive Director at Ernst & Young in Australia. Upon returning to the UK, Paul joined HURST accountancy in Manchester where he was a Tax Partner for 3 years and finally joined WR Partners in 2018.

Paul and his team provide high-quality advice on a wide range of business and personal taxation matters, to ensure clients meet their increasingly complex tax compliance obligations, while also providing a comprehensive range of tax consultancy advice, including corporate restructuring, inheritance tax and capital gains tax planning, share and business valuations, R&D and capital allowances claims, and business incorporations.

“It is an exciting and challenging time to be in Tax. I work with my clients to maximise the opportunities that are available to them as the government looks to use the tax system to provide incentives for investment and innovation.”

Paul has additionally taken on internal duties and has become our Director of Advisory with responsibility for the development of our wider advisory services both in tax but also with business strategy, people and digital solutions, to deliver a fully rounded service to the firm’s clients.
